| The Dangberg Home Ranch began as the 1857 homestead of Heinrich F. Dangberg, a German immigrant who founded a sheep and cattle ranch that grew to almost 50,000 acres. The Dangbergs were one of the area’s most prominent families and founded Minden in 1905. The site is now a Nevada State Park. Four generations of the Dangberg family lived at the Home Ranch, and though they are gone their possessions remain to help tell the important story of Carson Valley ranching. Guided tours lead visitors through the 15-room residence and last about 90 minutes. Advance reservations are required and can be made by phone or e-mail. $3.00 for adults; free for children under 13. |
