Nevada Pony Express members will be kicking off the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Pony Express by hosting the Pony Express Living History Festival on Saturday, April 3, 2010. The festival will be held at Buckland Station in the Historic Fort Churchill State Park from 11 AM to 3 PM. A park entrance fee of $4.00 per vehicle will be required, but all other activities are free. The festival will be a family oriented event to bring history alive. Along with the Pony Express, the Mountain Men, Civil War Volunteers, Nevada Gun Fighters and others will be on hand to do demonstrations and provide information about their role in history. Please plan to bring a picnic lunch, a lawn chair and your camera and come out to the Park. There will be several free activities for the children including wagon rides, games, and a letter writing station where they can send a letter via the Pony Express.
